I believe in the philosophy of being 'in at the deep end' so the there will be a dawn shoot to start the day; but don't worry about lack of knowledge as it's this approach that will help you appreciate how far you have come by the end of the day when we shoot at dusk. The main focus will be on setting up the camera so you take full control of creativity by way of careful and considered selection of aperture, shutter speeds and focal length. You will also learn about Live view, how to understand histograms and find good composition.

The workshop starts with a morning session along the beautiful shores of at Dewent Water where we will spend the morning shooting the shoreline and accross the lake towards Catbells, which is one of the best places in the Lakes to experience the morning light. We will then move on from there to spend some time along Bassenthwaite Lake before breaking for lunch. From here we will head south to Ullswater and the area around Glenridding, which has some fine jetties and lakeside views. The day will culminate with a dusk shoot, where you can put into practice all that you have learned whilst capturing the mysterious Castlerigg stone circle at last light.

Most landscape photographers love their filters and their use can often mean the difference between a good photo and a great one. My personal choice of filter manufacturer is Lee filters and if you don't have your own on the day, I will demonstrate using them with your equipment. The main filters used today are; neutral density graduated filters to balance exposure, polarisers to reduce glare and saturate colours, Little and Big stoppers to slow shutter speeds and create magical blur. I have a full range of these.

To fit in with work commitments, the workshops will run at the weekends. We will meet at a designated start point in the south Lakes and travel in one car together to the remaining locations.
